The GWO Offshore Basic Safety Training - Refresher Package is designed to give participants the knowledge, skills, and abilities to work safely in an offshore wind turbine environment.
This package is suitable for those who currently hold GWO certificates and are looking to refresh their training.

Please note: The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has issued a letter to industry via SafetyOn, stating that HSE considers that for a person in the wind industry to be fully first aid trained they must have completed the GWO Enhanced First Aid (EFA) course, or equivalent. Therefore it may be more appropriate for you to undertake GWO Enhanced First Aid training instead. GWO Working at Height Refresher (Safe Working Practices, Pre-Use Inspection and Use of Basic PPE, Safe Evacuation Techniques, Rescue of a casualty at height)

GWO First Aid Refresher (Using the Primary Survey D-R-C-A-B-C, recognising various life-threatening conditions including catastrophic bleeding, cardiac arrest, and shock, Performing life-saving first aid techniques, Performing other first aid techniques such as bandaging, splints, and treating hypothermia)
GWO Sea Survival Refresher (Safety culture and legacy, cold water immersion, personal LSA and PPE, life Saving appliances and PPE, SAR and GMDSS, controlled entry into the water from TP ladder, individual and collective swimming techniques, correct usage of life raft, emergency descent by constant rate descender, safety on board vessels, man overboard procedures, procedure for transfer between crew transfer vessel and wind turbine generator transition piece, safe transfer between crew transfer vessel and wind turbine generator transition piece)
No this course does not include the use of stretchers or pain relief. If this is necessary for your needs, we suggest booking a GWO Enhanced First Aid course instead.
You must hold valid GWO Sea Survival, Working at Heights, Enhanced First Aid, Fire Awareness and Manual Handling certificates (or refresher versions) to take this course.
The refresher course must be completed no later than 1 day before the expiry date on your current certificates. E.g. if your current certificates expire on the 31st January, then your refresher course must be completed by the 30th January at the latest

You must be 18 or over to undertake this course
Participants must have a WINDA ID (to obtain a WINDA ID, participants can register for free here)
You must complete a medical self-declaration before undertaking the training (this will be sent to you after you have booked)
You must be able to speak English to a reasonable level for course material comprehension and safety purposes
You must have an accepted form of photographic ID. We accept the following forms of ID:
Passport
Driving license
A PASS card (National Proof of Age Standards Scheme)
A Blue Badge
A biometric residence permit (BRP)
A Defence Identity Card (MOD form 90)
A HM Armed Forces Veteran Card (MOD form 100)
A national identity card issued by an EU country, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein
Participants will be assessed via a written test and their practical performance during assessment scenarios
This course is certified by the Global Wind Organisation (GWO)
All participants will receive an electronic certificate uploaded to WINDA
Certificates are valid for 2 years
Refresher courses must be completed no later than 1 day before the expiry date on your current certificate. E.g. if your current certificate expires on the 31st January, then your refresher course must be completed by the 30th January at the latest
If a refresher course is completed less than 60 days before the expiry date, the original expiry date is maintained
All PPE required for the course will be provided, except for safety footwear
We do provide basic gloves, however if you would prefer to bring your own then please feel free to do so
Lunch is provided on most of our courses (the exception being if you are doing a course which begins later in the afternoon)
Unfortunately, we may be unable to cater for gluten and dairy-free, and certain allergies due to our suppliers
If you do have an allergy or food intolerance, please get in touch with us to discuss this before your course date
For GWO Sea Survival, you will need:
A warm change of clothes for after the course
Swimming clothes such as trunks or a swimsuit to wear under the transfer/immersion suits, or clothes you don't mind getting wet
A towel
For all other courses, you will need:
Safety footwear (safety boots or safety shoes)
You must wear trousers
