GWO Manual Handling is designed to refresh and build on participants previous experience with manual handling tasks in a wind turbine environment, and their knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform these tasks safely in order to reduce the risk of injury.

This course will cover: • The effect of human factors on manual handling incidents • The identification of common manual handling injuries, and basic treatment • Essential manual handling principles, including: • Posture and technique • Dynamic risk assessments • TILE • Hierarchy of Control • The use of control measures and essential principles in the following scenarios: • Working above shoulder height • Working in awkward spaces • Working while kneeling • Lifting and carrying • Pushing and pulling • Using handheld tools (including repetitive work and vibrating tools) • Practical real-life exercises where participants can put the theory into practice

• You must hold an in-date GWO Manual Handling or GWO Manual Handling Refresher certificate • The refresher course must be completed no later than 1 day before the expiry date on your current certificate. E.g. if your current certificate expires on the 31st January, then your refresher course must be completed by the 30th January at the latest • If you are unsure if your certificate will be valid, please get in touch with us • You must be 18 or over to undertake this course • Participants must have a WINDA ID (to obtain a WINDA ID, participants can register for free here)(https://winda.globalwindsafety.org/register/) • You must complete a medical self-declaration before undertaking the training (this will be sent to you after you have booked) • You must be able to speak English to a reasonable level for course material comprehension and safety purposes • You must have an accepted form of photographic ID. We accept the following forms of ID: • Passport • Driving license • A PASS card (National Proof of Age Standards Scheme) • A Blue Badge • A biometric residence permit (BRP) • A Defence Identity Card (MOD form 90) • A HM Armed Forces Veteran Card (MOD form 100) • A national identity card issued by an EU country, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein

• Participants will be assessed via a written test and their practical performance during assessment scenarios • This course is certified by the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) • All participants will receive an electronic certificate uploaded to WINDA (https://winda.globalwindsafety.org/) • Certificates are valid for 2 years • Refresher courses must be completed no later than 1 day before the expiry date on your current certificate. E.g. if your current certificate expires on the 31st January, then your refresher course must be completed by the 30th January at the latest • If a refresher course is completed less than 60 days before the expiry date, the original expiry date is maintained

• All PPE required for the course will be provided, except for safety footwear • We do provide basic gloves, however if you would prefer to bring your own then please feel free to do so • Lunch is provided on most of our courses (the exception being if you are doing a course which begins later in the afternoon) • Unfortunately, we may be unable to cater for gluten and dairy-free, and certain allergies due to our suppliers
